Ingredients

  • 200 g chicken breast boneless
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 can chopped tomatoes
  • 50 g cashews
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream

Instructions

Marinate the chicken

  • Cut the chicken into small pieces, and then add the ginger and garlic paste, red chili powder, and salt. Mix the ingredients together thoroughly, ensuring that the chicken is well-coated. Place the mixture in the refrigerator and allow it to marinate for 15 minutes, letting the flavors combine.
  • In a pan, heat some oil over medium heat. Add 1/2 chopped onion and sauté until softened. Add the marinated chicken pieces and cook, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and place it in a bowl.

Making the sauce

  • In the same pan, add some oil and the remaining half of the chopped onions along with 1 tablespoon of butter. Sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add 1 can of chopped tomatoes and cashews, and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Stir in chili powder, sugar, garam masala, salt, and white vinegar, mixing well to combine the ingredients.
  • Transfer the mixture from the pan to a blender. Blend until the mixture reaches a smooth consistency. Then, strain the blended mixture back into the same pan, removing any solids, to achieve a smooth and velvety texture.
  • Add butter, chicken, and heavy cream to the pan. Mix all the ingredients together until well combined. The butter chicken is now ready to be served.
